Hunan Beef With Cumin
Ingredients
- 1 Tablespoon Shaoxing rice wine
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon light soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
- 1 Tablespoon corn starch
- 1 Tablespoon water
- 12 ounces boneless short rib, or other beef steak
- 1 3/4 cup peanut oil
- 2 Tablespoons minced ginger
- 1 Tablespoon minced garlic
- 2 red chilies, seeded and minced
- 2-4 teaspoons dried chili flakes
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
Directions
In a bowl, combine the rice wine, salt, soy, corn starch, and water. Cut the beef into thin slices and add to the marinade.
In a deep pan, heat the peanut oil to 275°F. Add the beef and stir gently for 2-3 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
Add three tablespoons of the frying oil to a skillet. Over medium-high heat, add the ginger, garlic, chilies, chili flakes, and cumin. Stir until fragrant. Add the beef and stir until coated. Add the green onions and toss briefly. Remove from heat and stir in the sesame oil.
